Embarking on the adventure of building a car repair chain is no small feat. Through the trials and triumphs of our own journey, we’ve developed a Site Evaluation Checklist that’s been instrumental in choosing the perfect locations for our company owned locations and franchises. Now, it’s yours for the taking.

Here’s a rundown of what you’ll find in the checklist:

  1. Demographic Characteristics: Dive into the specifics of age groups, income brackets, and the kinds of occupations that dominate the area.

  2. Traffic Patterns: Get a handle on daily foot and vehicular traffic, pinpointing those crucial peak hours and accessibility routes.

  3. Neighborhood Character: Understand the heartbeat of the area – is it a bustling commercial hub or a cozy residential nest? Is it an urban playground or a suburban retreat?

  4. Competitor Analysis: Take stock of the competition – are there similar businesses nearby?

  5. Proximity to Supporting Businesses: Don’t forget about your allies! Check for nearby spare part suppliers and essential services.

  6. Other Commercial Characteristics: Be in the know about zoning regulations and the potential for future growth or expansion.

  7. Physical Characteristics of Premises: Size, layout, aesthetics – these are the tangible factors that will shape your customers’ experience.

In addition to the site evaluation form, it’s useful for you to collect a few other items:

  • Printout of Google Maps: Mark it up with nearby residential and commercial spots for a visual snapshot.

  • Photographs of the Neighborhood: Paint a picture of the surroundings – it’ll provide invaluable context.

  • Photographs of the Site: We’re taking a 360-degree view here. Every angle counts when planning your facility.

  • Hand-Drawn Sketch: This is where you lay it all out – site dimensions, structures, internal layout, height, and any permanent partitions.

While this checklist is a powerful tool, it doesn’t guarantee site approval by the Franchisor or compliance to your criteria. Each location shall be assessed based on your / franchisor’s specific criteria.

By using this checklist, you’re not just choosing a location, you’re setting the foundation for a thriving car repair business. If you have any questions or need a guiding hand, I’m just an email away.
